Yesterday we hopped in the car again, this time heading for the coast. It was a beautiful, crisp day of sunshine and light clouds. Not a trace of wind.

We met up with Mimi and Papa and had a quick lunch before visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  The kids loved the sea turtles and I loved the sardines.  We spent quite some time learning (from a docent) about the disgusting ins and outs of starfish and sea cucumbers.

By the time we left, the monkeys were completely exhausted and I was 100% sure that my "allergies" were, in fact, a full blown cold.

Just like when we actually get our acts together and go to San Francisco, I was left wondering why we don't take advantage of all California has to offer and just take these monkeys out for a ride more often.  It's so easy to pack up and drive most anywhere in the state and it feels so good to visit somewhere this spectacular...

sea cucumbers and all.
