Just a few things:

1) Hurley can climb the fence like a monkey and escape his puppy pen in the yard.  Whoopsie.

2) I hope you never have a puppy with worms.  Because the cure is like something out of Star Trek.

3) I want to run another Half Marathon.  Anybody run the See Jane Run Half in Alameda before?  Thinkin' about it.  It's June 5, which would give me a good 8 weeks to get my mileage back up.

4) Along those same lines, this week marks my return to running.  I spent a long time last night on a P90X-running hybrid schedule so I can get back to hitting the pavement again.  I really like the P90X workouts, but doing just those means I can't fit in any running.  I'm hopeful that if I have a goal in mind (and if I plunk down the money for a race entry) I'll have the motivation to increase mileage again.

5) The problem with having a good weekend is that it goes by way too fast.

6) I wish I had a running buddy.  I have no idea how one goes about establishing that kind of thing.

7) Having a puppy is making me feel like I can't do anything except sit here and watch him--sometimes for reasons of cuteness and puppy breath, sometimes because he wants to chew on everything in sight, and sometimes because I'm afraid he's going to pee if he sneaks off.  Sneaky puppy.

8) Ribs for dinner tonight.  I'm not very good at them.  I still need to really figure things out in the rib department.  I mean, they're good the way I cook them, but I feel like I'm missing something.  Maybe I need to get out my America's Test Kitchen Bible Cookbook.  That book has everything in it.

9) Have you been watching The Pacific on HBO?  It's uh-maze-ing.  I finally got a chance to watch it this weekend when I was up with Hurley and Insomnia.  It's so well done.  I love that Tom Hanks uses his power for good.

10) There is no 10.  Have a question you'd like me to answer?  Formspring me.

  1. If you lived closer I would be your running buddy! I am struggling with how to do P90X and running too... my legs are so shot from one workout to the next.. I'm afraid if I add running in, I'll be even worse at yoga than I already am!

And sneaky puppies.. that's why I adopted an older dog. I do not have the mental stamina to focus on them for every second.. hehe Good luck though! He is a cutie!

  2. I don't know if boxers are good running dogs, but maybe you could train Hurley to run with you? I loved running with my dogs when I lived with my parents...always an adventure, to say the least. (And a good way to work off some of that puppy energy!)

  3. I'll be your running buddy! Does that sound desperate ;)
I'm also looking to sign up for another half soon, but I'll be out of town for the See Jane Run race.
As for other races: there is a running group in Sacramento called Rat Pack Runners (ratpackrunners.com). They have a group for the Nike Women's Marathon/Half Marathon in San Francisco (it's on October 17, 2010). Entry is by random drawing, so there's no guarantee, and it isn't exactly soon, but my good friend who is moving to Cali and I both entered the drawing under the group.
Email me if you want more info about the running group or anything else: julia at joggingmymemory.com
Sorry for the ridiculously long message!
    Have a great Tuesday!

  4. A running group is always a great place to start when trying to find running buddies!! Runnin for Rhett (which I am a member of) has a race team. They participate in the Buzz Oates race series here in Sac and are a great group for a great cause!! They have work outs in Elk Grove Park at 6:00pm. Here's their website, www.runninforrhett.com

  5. Another good running group is Moms in motion and it's here in EG too. Wendy Hoag is the organizer and the participation fees go to women's/children's charities. The ladies in the group are really nice. They also just started a triathalon team. They have a blog and a website.
