Training Plan!

Okay, after some angst-filled Facebook pleas to everyone I know who is a runner, and lots and lots of wonderful (if not similar) information, I think I have settled on a plan to train for this Half Marathon that I want to do in October.

If the above window won't work (I'm still not 100% sure about embedding things and messing with pixels and all of that, click here and you can view it in my Google Docs page. The plan is an adaptation of Hal Higdon's Novice Half Marathon Training Plan, found here. I just adjusted it slightly for days of the week that I like to do my long run, rest, etc, plus I extended it by four weeks to fit the time frame that I have.

I feel good about this plan. It doesn't look like biting off more than I can chew, and I like that (for now) I'm not worrying about a ton of different pacing strategies or workouts. Just mileage and time. I can do that. I guess *HEAVY SIGH* that I will cross train too. I think it will help with the weightloss thing (I hope) and probably help me not get burned out and overdo it on my legs too soon.

I need to go get my bike fixed up, because right now it has one flat tire and there's a spider colony living under the seat. We have one of those kid trailers, but it too has a flat tire. Motivation to get that fixed as well. Swimming would be an option, IF IT WOULD EVER GET HOT AROUND HERE, but I am not holding my breath. I'm really not. I don't have a membership anywhere because we're (read: E's) too cheap right now to do it while the weather is nice and it's just fine running around outside. I'm going to need to clean off our weight system in the garage too. I'll keep doing my ab/pushup/pullup routine during commercials too, thank you very much.

  1. Wow, that is such an admirable goal set! I wish you the best. I am also working towards being in yet another 1/2 marathon...the only problem is that I get shin splints. Ouch! If it makes you feel better my gym membership just expired, so I am relying on jogging and my 5lbs dumb bells at my apartment. He he. Good luck with all of your training! What 1/2 marathon are you wanting to be a part of?
